Co-parenting is hard.
Add in a global pandemic to your co-parenting arrangement and, well, it gets even harder.
The Coronavirus has upended every part of your family’s life, from how you get groceries to how your children attend school. Not one thing is the same as it was a few months ago.
It makes your custody agreement essentially worthless.
Exchange dates/times make no sense with new remote work and homeschooling obligations
Required vacation time seems insane in a world where exposure is a constant concern
You have no framework to address social distancing requirements
You've muddled through until today but, to be honest, the thought of New York State reopening makes you cringe.
It’s too overwhelming to think about all the changes, so, you just don’t think about it. You function on auto-pilot, and that includes co-parenting. You no longer have the bandwidth to negotiate a whole new parenting time plan.
Let's face it: the custody agreement that you already have is essentially useless right now.
So, you opted to wing it and co-parent on the fly. And now the arguments are starting again, and the hard feelings from your break-up are starting to creep back in and the anxiety over your family’s safety is ready to swallow you up. You find yourself back in the pattern of:
Daily schedule changes
More emails, texts, and phone calls than you can count
Arguments about social distancing protocols for the kids
...And more than once you were ready to throw your phone out the stupid window.
It all feels so very hard, and that's because it is so very hard.
But it doesn't have to be. You just need a plan.
It's time to come face to face with reality. This “new normal” is going to last several months, if not longer. You’ll continue remote work, homeschooling, and the ad-hoc custody arrangement you’ve cobbled together. Someday it will be better, you hope, but then you think about the dreaded process of re-opening.
Yes, New York State is reopening. Will your family be safe?
You constantly worry about arguments and difficulties with your ex and wonder if they will be honest and stay true to their word when it comes to social distancing. If you’ve been thinking:
“How the heck can I keep doing this?”
“I need a break”
“I need this to be just a little easier”
“This isn’t good for the kids”
Then you need to STOP co-parenting on the fly and come up with a solid plan.
There is good news: This doesn't have to be a big, expensive endeavor with multiple in-person visits with an attorney. You can create your own legally binding Coronavirus Child Protection Plan right now, from the comfort of your own home.
Hi. I'm Lauren Hunt - a New York Family Law Attorney.
And I’ve seen how the Coronavirus has rendered custody agreements useless. It creates frustration and worry for my clients. Effective Communication Guide- This is your "go to" source for how to communicate with your Ex on these (and any) topic.
Checklist for areas of special concern - This checklist takes less than 5 minutes to complete and ensures that your Agreement is fully customized to your needs.
Q&A - The Q&A helps you narrow down exactly what terms you do need, what ones you don't, and what ones you may use as leverage in negotiating.
Road map - You aren't alone! I created a detailed road map that takes you step-by-step through the entire process. No stone is left unturned and no question unanswered.
Library of Forms - I've included all the forms you need to convert your legally binding Agreement into a Court Order. Here's the best part though - these forms can be reused as often as you want...regardless of whether you are filing on consent or filing a contested modification request.
This comprehensive Resource Guide is a key portion of this system - ensuring that you are guided, step-by-step, through this process. The Resource Guide is valued at more than $795 but included with your Coronavirus Co-Parenting Solution for just $297!
